Digipak Research
For our digipak we want to go with the coloured theme of black orange for our music video. We also wants to include our logo and make sure there is synergy.
Some digipaks we found gave us inspiration. These are the man two that gave us inspiration.

This digipak shows an orange theme and the front cover was similar to the front cover in our first draft for our digipak. Which we have now changed.
Like this digipak looks like ours with the black coloured outline and the hint of orange colour. The synergy goes well and the back cover for the songs stands out.

Audience and Audience
Why and how do you consume music?
I normally listen to music throughout the day while I'm working in and out of class as it helps me concentrate and at night when I'm doing things round the house or tidying my room. I have different playlists for different moods and different times of the day. I listen to music at school, at home, walking to and from somewhere and when I go to parties. I normally listen to music through my earphones but will always tell people new songs I like and they tell me theirs. When me and my mates go out we will always bring a speaker so we can sit somewhere and listen to music. I will listen to music from my phone as I can et any song I want. I will also listen to CDs when I am in the car or the radio.
Uses and gratifications theory
Examples:
Personal identification - when I used to get angry with my parents I used to blast songs that would express how I feel and that would make me feel better.
Information - sometimes you learn something from a song, Oliver Cromwell by Monty Python taught me some history.
Entertainment - Madonna and her dance moves.
Social interaction - songs my friends and I would always request and dace to when we went out.
Escapism -
Create mood (romance, upbeat) -
Cheer you up -
Get you in the mood to go out -
Add atmosphere to a gathering -
Help you sleep -
Distraction -
Companionship (driving, travelling) -
30 Second Breakdown

This wide shot shows the artist walking towards a big house. it makes the audience think about who's house he walking towards.
In this shot it shows the artist waiting for the door to be opened to reveal the persons house. the artist has his back to the camera to show he isn't important anymore and that the person opening in the door is the important person.

This medium shot shows who he is talking to the way the camera is placed shows the height difference between them but because the camera is straight it shows they are both as important as each other.
In this shot it shows the artist standing over the other person this shows that he is more important at the moment. the wide shot shows the design of the house and how it fits with her age.

In this shot it shows his grandma in a close up shot this shows she is important to him and is important in the meaning of the music video.

In this shot it shows his grandma in the centre of the shot this also shows us she is the main meaning and person in this video.

In this shot you can see both of them again. This shot shows she is important because you can see her fully and he is in the corner which shows he is less important even though he is the artist. This music shows how important his grandma is to him.

Carol Vernallis' Theory
4 Key Concepts
- Narrative
- Editing
- Camera/Movement/Framing
- Diegesis
Narrative
- Doesn't need beginning, middle and end
- Partial, disjoined
Editing
- Brought to foreground
- Jump cuts, breaks the 30 degree rule
Camera/Movement/Framing
- Establishing shots frequently used throughout
- Medium and close up shots used throughout to establish the artist
- Master shot, establishing shot that keeps everyone in view
Diegesis
- Diegesis will be revelled quite slowly
- Repetition is key so you will be able to pick out the important shots
Liam Payne - Strip that down = 167 cuts

Goodwin Theory
Andrew Goodwin Music Video Theory
Conventions
1. Relationship between the lyrics and the visuals
This convention explains how Goodwin noticed a music videos visuals either had a complete similarity or direct contrast to the lyrics of the songs.
2. Thought beats - relationship between the music and the visuals
Goodwin identified that the visuals within a music video may be edited in time to the lyrics/change in pace of the song. He also stated that these visuals are commonly repeated within a chorus to emphasise the repetition in lyrics and beats.
3. Genre- related style and iconography
Goodwin recognised that most artists have a trend of repeating certain actions within their music videos in order to establish this as their 'trademark' action and therefore making their songs recognisable due to it reoccurring often.
4. Multiple close-ups o the main artist or vocalist
Goodwin identified that it is a common feature for record labels to use close ups of the artist/vocalist in order to promote the sales in the single.
5. Voyeurism often plays a major part (especially females)
Goodwin recognised that many music videos included voyeuristic angles of women in order to entice a male audiences interest in the artist and also the lyrics to which these shots represent.
6. Intertextual references to other media texts may be present (especially in humorous videos)
Goowin recognised that I was no uncommon to recognise either the visuals or lyrics of a song to be a direct reference to another media text.
